Kite, Please Fly for Me

Watercolor on paper, tetraptych, exhibit work under Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan for Art in the Park 2022, framed

I can’t fly to where you are, so I wrote a message on a kite that any of these best courier options could carry: a) the dragonfly, a master of aerodynamics; b) a gentle and young angel (who might have a prayer or two for us), or c) a large bird that can touch heaven’s ceiling.

My cat made a kite, too, for you. Let’s see which of them reads our message on the kites and accepts our favor: to see you again where the stars are and to be wrapped in your embrace as warm as the spindly arms of the sun.
