Le Monde en Roses

Watercolor and pencil, 2017

St. Therese de Lisieux est l’un de mes saints préférés. J’appelle cette pièce “Le Monde en Roses.”

St. Therese of Lisieux is one of my favorite saints. I call this piece “The World in Roses.” For some reason, I feel so close to her, like a sister. I first saw her relics as a child in Carmelites Monastery in Subic, Zambales; I dressed up, along with many other girls, as a Carmelite nun. St. Therese was very young when she wanted to enter (and successfully entering) the Carmelite order. Reading her autobiography gave me a glimpse of how extraordinary her love was.

“Then, overcome by joy, I cried, ‘Jesus, my love. At last I have found my vocation. My vocation is love.” - St. Therese
